Rising rivers turned parks into lakes during yesterday’s thaw.

This kayaker was seen in Bridgeview Park Petrolia Wednesday afternoon, taking a tour of an area which is supposed to be a soccer field but which was covered with the flood waters of Bear Creek.

Officials with the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority say water levels peaked in Petrolia last night before moving downstream to Dresden and Wallaceburg. There has also been flooding in Florence and Oil Springs.

In St. Clair Township, Waterworks Road north of Courtright Line and Pretty Road South of Stanley Line are closed due to flooding.

In Enniskillen Township Fairweather Road between Rokeby and Shiloh Line and Fairweather Road between Oil Springs Line and Aberfeldy Line are also closed.

Officials say small ice jams may stop the water from moving downstream, but they’re not expected to cause water levels to rise significantly. For more information about the flood watch go to http://www.scrca.on.ca/Media_FloodAdvisory.htm
