Looking for an excuse for speeding? This one doesn’t work

A 75 year old Sarnia man found out trying to keep your nice car from getting wet on is not a good excuse to speed.

Sarnia Police clocked a car going 95 km/h in a 50 on Murphy Road between Exmouth Street and London Road around 2:45 yesterday afternoon.

Once the car was stopped an elderly man inside told the officer he was speeding “so that he could get his shiny car home before the rain started,” says Const. Les Jones.

That apparently wasn’t a good reason and he was issued a fine for $335.

Police don’t know if he made it home before it started to rain.
